Four walls make a universe,
They enclose and enthrall
virtues, vices, duties, egos,
“Evolution” as they call.

Doors, to stop evolving
Doors, to runaway
Doors, to welcome you with open arms
Doors, to kick them all away

To step out and feel the breezy winds
To walk with your head held high
To seek shelter when the same winds chill
And hide when they look at you and sigh.

To peep in when you want to know
Or put your desperate ear to hear
To shut them when you want no more
All alone, in relief, in peace.

Four walls make a universe,
They enclose and enthrall
virtues, vices, duties, egos,
And doors play with them all.

Clever allusions. I especially like your idea of the doors’ role.

  4. Thanks! Yeah, it just boils down to the fact that things look very different depending on where we’re seeing them from…
